Pile Testing
Know your ground before you build on it
An undersized foundation means cost overruns. An oversized one means wasted steel. HCB Solar settles the question early.
We carry out pile load testing using specialised equipment that goes further than a standard site survey. The result is reliable, project-specific data at the design stage — accurate pile lengths, optimised structures, and fewer surprises once the machines arrive on site.

Construction
HCB Solar builds solar plants from the ground up, with its own teams and equipment at every stage.
We start with the foundations. GPS-guided rigs drive piles to survey accuracy, and where the ground refuses — rock, unstable soil, difficult terrain — we switch to our in-house drilling solutions rather than losing weeks on the programme. Our installation crews then take over for structure assembly, tracker alignment and module mounting, working to standardised procedures and continuous quality control so the array goes up fast and comes out square.
We also manage the site’s waste ourselves. Dedicated trucks and on-site sorting separate wood, steel and packaging for recycling, keeping the site clean, compliant and fully traceable from first pile to commissioning.

Mechanical Service Division
HCB Solar’s Mechanical Service Division delivers specialised mechanical support for utility-scale solar assets across Australia and New Zealand. Built on extensive solar construction experience, our team combines tracker installation, piling expertise and site delivery to support maintenance and remediation activities.
We assist asset owners, OEMs, EPC contractors and O&M providers with skilled personnel and specialised equipment, ensuring planned maintenance, warranty repairs and corrective works are carried out safely and efficiently. Our services include tracker inspections, mechanical remediation, OEM warranty support, component and module replacement, and piling rectification — along with all related electrical works.
We understand the challenges of operating on live solar assets, including access limitations, production constraints and coordination with on-site teams. Our approach focuses on practical solutions that minimise downtime, maintain performance and extend asset life. With a proven workforce and the ability to mobilise quickly, HCB Solar provides reliable mechanical support whenever and wherever it’s needed.

HCB Solar New Zealand Ltd is a limited liability company jointly owned by Connetics Ltd and HCB Solar Australia, combining the strengths of two experienced industry leaders — the advanced expertise of one of Australia’s leading solar mechanical contractors, and the local knowledge of one of New Zealand’s largest electrical distribution contractors.
The company is led by an experienced management team, including John Thompson (Country Director), Ben Blower (General Manager) and Dev Chatterjee (Project Manager).
Specialising exclusively in the electro-mechanical installation of utility-scale solar farms, HCB Solar New Zealand delivers pile height design, piling, mechanical assembly of tracker and fixed-tilt racking systems, and module installation. With a strong focus on quality, efficiency and reliability, the company is committed to high-performance solar infrastructure and to advancing renewable energy across New Zealand.
